We recently had the pleasure of being invited for a full site inspection of the brand new InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town by IHG. Samantha, Carmen, Peggy and Remi were hosted for the morning, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear that this iconic V&A Waterfront hotel has entered an exciting new chapter.

First Impressions: The Lobby

Stepping into the lobby immediately sets the tone for the experience. The redesign perfectly balances modern elegance with the timeless charm that Table Bay has always been known for. The space feels brighter, lighter and more open, with contemporary finishes, refined textures and thoughtful lighting creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

There is a strong sense of arrival here the kind of space that makes guests pause, look around and instantly feel they are somewhere special.

A Culinary Destination

Dining is clearly a major focus of the new InterContinental Table Bay, with three exciting restaurant concepts offering diverse experiences:

Flint & Fennel brings a refined yet relaxed dining experience, showcasing contemporary cuisine in a stylish setting.

Le Bistrot de JAN introduces the renowned Chef Jan Hendrik’s signature French-Mediterranean flair, adding a truly special culinary destination to the hotel.

The Botanist’s Table offers a vibrant and inviting space with an stunning bar as the main feature, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Together, these venues create a dynamic food and beverage offering that will appeal to both hotel guests and locals alike.

The New Pool Deck

One of the most impressive upgrades is the newly enlarged pool deck. This space feels like a tranquil oasis in the heart of the busy Waterfront. With more room to relax, soak up the sun and enjoy the views, it’s easy to imagine guests spending entire afternoons here unwinding between sightseeing and shopping. Don’t miss the sunset from the pool deck it will start your evening off perfectly.

The Rooms & Suites

The redesigned rooms continue the theme of light, comfort and understated luxury. The décor is contemporary yet timeless, with soft tones, elegant finishes and thoughtful touches that enhance the guest experience.

The rooms feel fresh and inviting, with a strong sense of comfort that will appeal to both leisure and business travellers. It’s clear that a great deal of care has gone into creating spaces that feel both luxurious and practical.

A New Chapter for a Cape Town Icon

The InterContinental Table Bay has long been one of Cape Town’s most recognisable hotels, and this transformation has elevated the property to a new level of sophistication and style.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Jo-Anne for the warm welcome and wonderful tour. We look forward to recommending this exceptional property to our clients and seeing it thrive in its exciting new era.
