Day 1: Home Q Johannesburg

Flight to Johannesburg.

Day 2: Johannesburg > Lydenburg

+/- 330 km/ 4h00

You will take the road towards Lydenburg in Mpumalanga going through Kwandebele area where the « Ndebele » tribe lives. They are well known for their brightly colored houses and outfits. You will then enjoy the beautiful landscapes Long Tom Pass offers.

Suggested activity: Visit a Ndebele village

Day 3: Lydenburg > Pilgrim’s Rest

+/- 60km/ 1h10

Suggested visit: Panoramic road (God’s Window/ Three Rondavels/ Bourke’s Potholes)

Suggested visit: Visit Pilgrim’s Rest, a former settlement during the Gold Rush in 19th century.

Day 4: Pilgrim’s Rest > Kruger National Park

+/- 75km/ 1h10 to reach the gate + 55km / 1h20 to reach the camp

Go to the Kruger Park for your full day game drive!

Days 5 & 6: Kruger National Park

Day 7: Kruger National Park > Swaziland

+/- 220 km / 3h20 + boarder control

You will drive to the King of Swaziland, an independent country, ruled by H.M. King Mswati III, crowned in April 1986. Swaziland has maintained its cultural traditions and although English is widely spoken, the dominant language is Siswati. Many of its local inhabitants still consult with an  “ Inyanga “, a witch doctor, to ward away evil spirits, or with a “ Sangoma”, who is mostly consulted for health reasons.

Option 1: Follow the rhinos

Go on a 4×4 game drive in Hlane reserve, well known for its numerous rhinos.

Suggested activity: Track rhinos with an expert ranger.

Day 8: Swaziland > KwaZulu Natal

Today, you will go to Zulu land and Hluhluwe area! On your way, you may stop at Swazi art craft markets and enjoy the relax atmosphere there.

Day 9: KwaZulu Natal > Saint Lucia > Durban

+/- 330 km/ 5h00

You will go on a game drive in the legendary Hluhluwe reserve, famous for its exceptional concentration of white rhinos. You will also be able to see impalas, gnus, zebras, buffalos, giraffes, leopards, hyena, cheetah etc. You will then go to St Lucia and discover its wetlands (UNESCO Heritage site).

Suggested activity: Boat cruise on St Lucia wetlands.

Day 10: Durban Q Cape Town

You will have the time to visit Durban, the biggest harbour in South Africa.  The majority of the population is of Indian origin, hence the number of temples and mosques, as well as shops specialized in Indian products. You will later in the day reach the airport for your flight to Cape Town.

Days 11 & 12: Cape Town

During these three coming days, you will discover the great multi-cultural city of Cape and its surroundings with its fascinating history and natural beauty. Just walk on the streets, visit museums and art galleries, go up to Table Mountain to enjoy the view or join one of the many activities available.

We suggest you take a day to visit the Cape Peninsula: Boulders’ Beach, its natural reserve, go on a boat cruise in Hout bay or False Bay, watch whales in winter, go for a fantastic seafood experience at one of the renowned places etc. Explore the natural side of the city!

Another day visit:  Cape wine route! Visit Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, learn about the History of this area dedicated to wine. Gourmet food and grand cru are on the list!

Extension Drakensberg / Lesotho

Day 10: Durban > Drakensberg

+/- 240 km/ 3h30

Today take the road to Drakensberg Mountains ! Go through Natal area and towards Lesotho. Landscapes there have something extra ordinary. They call Lesotho the «  Kingdom in the Sky » : its average altitude is 1400 meters and this land which was once ruled by Moshoeshoe the Great is now an independent country. High mountains materialize its natural boarder with South Africa… a Heaven for Nature lovers.

Day 11: Drakensberg / Lesotho > Durban

+/- 255 km/ 4h00

You will be transferred to Sani Pass in 4×4 vehicle (2873m). Great landscapes with a magnificent mountain range with rivers and falls. At the top, you will be welcome by the Sotho tribe who will take you to their village and introduce you their traditions as well as offer you their home made beer! You will have lunch at the restaurant with an amazing panoramic view.

Extension Garden Route

Day 10: Durban Q Port Elisabeth > Knysna

+/- 260 km/ 3h20 + visits

You will visit Durban, the biggest harbour in South Africa.  The majority of the population is of Indian origin, hence the number of temples and mosques, as well as shops specialising in Indian products.

You will then take your flight to Port Elisabeth and continue to Knysna.

Suggested activity: Canopy in Tsitsikamma Forest

Day 11: Knysna

Enjoy Knysna and its surroundings and choose one of the many activities available in the area.

Today you will drive to Oudtshoorn, the world capital of feather! This city is well known for its ostrich farms and its associated products.

Day 13: Oudtshoorn > Hermanus

You will reach Hermanus today and observe the whales that come within the bay (July to November).
